National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education

The National Security Agency has designated Sam Houston State University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) through the academic year 2025.

The CFIC brings together leading industry participants, practitioners, and faculty members from a variety of disciplines to research cyber forensic and digital security topics that are of interest to governmental, commercial and legal communities.  More details can be found here.

The CFIC serves as a portal for cyber defense education to craft the next generation of cybersecurity, computer science, and digital forensics professionals. Led by Rob Greenberg, the CFIC is supported by faculty members from across the SHSU CS department. An industry advisory board (IAB) meets regularly and provides oversight and guidance.

The National Security Agency (NSA) Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) Program has validated that the SHSU Bachelor’s of Science, Major in Computing Science (Information Assurance, IA) meets all elements of the required Program of Study (PoS).  Learn more about the CAE Program.
